Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor of mandible.

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor is a common tumor that rarely affects the head and neck region. The patient presented in this report is a teenage girl presented with a lesion in the right body of the mandible with severe disfigurement of the lower face. The lesion was first histopathologically diagnosed as embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma.

Submandibular giant sialoliths: report of two cases and review of the literature.

Sialolithiasis is one of the most common diseases of the salivary gland, but giant sialoliths have been reported in the literature infrequently. The submandibular gland and its duct appear to be the sites most susceptible to this disease. We report 2 cases of giant sialoliths occurring solely in the submandibular duct.

Primary malignant tumors of orofacial region at Benghazi, Libya: a 17 years review.

The aim of this study was to systematically analyze the clinical presentations of orofacial malignant tumors in a Libyan population over a period of 17 years and compare the results with the reports from other countries. During the study period, tumors of epithelial origin were found in 160 patients (82%), followed by tumors of immune system, 22 (11%) and tumors of mesenchymal origin, 14 (7%). Of the total malignant tumors, 115 were men and 81 were women and the male to female ratio was 1.

Benign tumours of orofacial region at Benghazi, Libya: a study of 405 cases.

Introduction: Although benign tumours are thought to be relatively uncommon in the orofacial region, the incidence differs according to the country. The purpose of this study was to systematically analyse the incidence of benign tumours of maxillofacial region within the Libyan population.

Material And Methods: A total of 405 cases of benign tumours reported at the Faculty of Dentistry, Arab Medical Science University, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya between 1991 and 2007 were analysed.
