Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence.

Sexual assault and intimate partner violence (IPV) of children, adolescents, and adult women are prevalent in the United States and have long-term physical and mental health, financial, and social effects. Pregnant women and women of color are particularly high-risk populations. Obstetrics and gynecology providers are uniquely situated to assess and treat survivors of IPV and sexual assault.

The "Big Two" in Hiring Discrimination: Evidence From a Cross-National Field Experiment.

We tested whether signaling warmth and competence ("Big Two") in job applications increases hiring chances. Drawing on a field experimental data from five European countries, we analyzed the responses of employers ( = 13,162) to applications from fictitious candidates of different origin: native candidates and candidates of European, Asian, or Middle-Eastern/African descent. We found that competence signals slightly increased invitation rates, while warmth signals had no effect.

'Society thinks they are cold and/or incompetent, but I do not': Stereotype content ratings depend on instructions and the social group's location in the stereotype content space.

Stereotype content researchers have grown accustomed to ask participants how 'society' views social groups to tap into culturally shared stereotype content and to reduce social desirability bias (J Person Soc Psychol, 82, 2002, 878). However, methodological and theoretical considerations raise questions about this common practice, and stereotype content researchers have also asked for participants' personal perspective on social groups in the past. Nonetheless, how and whether stereotype content model scores empirically differ as a function of the instructed perspective remains questionable and to date untested.

Permeation of hepatocyte growth factor across the blood-brain barrier.

Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), mainly produced and acting in the periphery, attenuates cerebral ischemia-induced cell death and thus shows therapeutic potential in CNS regeneration. Accordingly, we tested its ability to permeate the blood-brain barrier (BBB). HGF was stable in the circulating blood of adult mice for up to 20 min, as HPLC showed intact (125)I-HGF in both serum and brain homogenate.
