To determine the burden of disease among subjects at risk of developing stroke or dementia, brain health indexes (BHI) tend to rely on anatomical features. Recent definitions emphasize the need of a broader perspective that encompasses cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFS) and lifestyle components which can be considered partial contributors to optimal brain health. In this study, we aimed to establish the association and risk detected by a Brain Health Index and the risk of possible vascular dementia (PVD) using data from the Mexican Health and Aging Study (MHAS) 2012-2015.

However, the effectiveness of this method to reveal the coexistence of macromolecules of the same species, but different conformational states, is still unknown. To address this problem, we present an experimental study on pattern formation in dried droplets of bovine serum albumin (BSA), in folded and unfolded conformational states, in saline solution (NaCl).

The system reaches a stationary state where the energy losses from collisions and friction with the concave dish surface are compensated by the continuous energy input coming from the oscillating magnetic field. Random particle motions show some similarities with the motions of atoms and molecules in a glass or a crystal-forming fluid.

We quantify the mobility of different floating ellipsoidal particles using the mean-square displacement and the mean-square angular displacement, and relate the diffusion coefficients to the bath particle motion. In terms of the particle major radius R, we find the translational diffusion coefficient scales roughly as 1/R^{2} and the rotational diffusion coefficient scales as roughly 1/R^{4}; this is consistent with the assumption that diffusion arises from random kicks of the bath particles underneath the floating particle.
