alpha 1-Acid glycoprotein, isolated from human blood plasma, was shown to accelerate healing of burn wounds in rats and to increase daily urine excretion. The glycoprotein restricted an elevation of the peptide-bound hydroxyproline in blood plasma, decreased the ratio between peptide-bound and free hydroxyproline within all the periods of experiment during 3 weeks as well as stimulated hydroxyproline excretion with urine at the step of active reparation of burn wounds. The glycoprotein appears to protect connective tissue metabolism in burns.

Students of vocational schools lack information on the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. The efficacy of health-educating activities in this field grows when such activities are based on the results of special sociologic analysis of the students' knowledge of such problems, as well as of their need in such information and the most suitable sources of this information. Such a sociologic study was carried out at 8 vocational schools of the Leningrad region.

A comparative study of the factors of non-specific protection and specific immunity, allergic and autoallergic reactivity during prolonged introduction into the organism of experimental animals of 6 different radioactive and 7 harmful chemical substances was carried out. Qualitative and quantitative peculiarities were found in the changes in immunological reactivity during exposure of the organism to radionuclides and stable chemical compounds. Impairment of immunity plays a substantial role in the course and outcome of affections provoked by chronic effect of the substances examined.
