Use of in situ simulation to improve team performance and utilization of a rapid sequence intubation checklist.

Background: Intubation checklists have emerged as tools to reduce adverse events and improve efficiency during rapid sequence intubation (RSI) in pediatric emergency departments (PEDs). This study aimed to use multidisciplinary simulation (SIM) training as an educational tool to improve PED team performance during RSI scenarios through utilization of an RSI checklist.

Methods: We created a checklist modeled after previously published PED checklists.

Energetic Electron Precipitation Driven by Electromagnetic Ion Cyclotron Waves from ELFIN's Low Altitude Perspective.

We review comprehensive observations of electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) wave-driven energetic electron precipitation using data collected by the energetic electron detector on the Electron Losses and Fields InvestigatioN (ELFIN) mission, two polar-orbiting low-altitude spinning CubeSats, measuring 50-5000 keV electrons with good pitch-angle and energy resolution. EMIC wave-driven precipitation exhibits a distinct signature in energy-spectrograms of the precipitating-to-trapped flux ratio: peaks at >0.5 MeV which are abrupt (bursty) (lasting ∼17 s, or ) with significant substructure (occasionally down to sub-second timescale).

Efficient separation of IgG from IgM antibodies via conjugated surfactant micelles.

Immunoglobulin-G (IgG) (∼150 kDa) antibodies confer longer term immunity against bacterial or viral infections than the heavier IgM's (∼900 kDa), which are generally detectable in blood circulation in response to more recently acquired infections. There may be, however, a time overlap, which is problematic for diagnostic purposes, in the interests of which it is essential to separate IgM's from IgG's. We describe a purification platform, functioning at pH 6.

Pediatric Dog Bites to the Face May Have Been Less Severe During COVID-19 Pandemic: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Purpose: Pediatric dog bite injuries are one of the most common nonfatal injuries. During the COVID-19 pandemic, children stayed at home more than pre-pandemic. The effect of the pandemic on severity of dog bites to the face in children has not been examined.

Correlation between imaging findings on outpatient MR enterography (MRE) in adult patients with Crohn disease and progression to surgery within 5 years.

Purpose: To retrospectively evaluate which key imaging features described by SAR-AGA on outpatient surveillance MRE correlate with progression to surgery in adults with CD.

Methods: 52 CD patients imaged with outpatient MRE from 10/2015 to 12/2016 and with available clinical information were included. Two abdominal radiologists reviewed the MRE for the presence of active inflammation, intramural edema, restricted diffusion, stricture, probable stricture, ulceration, sacculation, simple fistula, complex fistula, sinus tract, inflammatory mass, abscess, perienteric inflammation, engorged vasa recta, fibrofatty proliferation, and perianal disease.
