The evidential significance of car seat fibres has been investigated. Thirty six samples of car seat fabric were examined and the fibres catalogued according to their morphology and characteristics. The majority of car seat fibres were black or grey thick polyester fibres that were either dyed or pigmented.

Pattern formation on the free surface of a magnetic fluid subjected to a magnetic field is investigated experimentally. By tilting the magnetic field, the symmetry can be broken in a controllable manner. When increasing the amplitude of the tilted field, the flat surface gives way to liquid ridges.

Objective: The aim of the study was to determine pre- and intraoperative risk factors for the development of postoperative delirium among patients undergoing aortic, carotid, and peripheral vascular surgery to predict the risk for postoperative delirium.

Summary Background Data: Although postoperative delirium after vascular surgery is a frequent complication and is associated with the need for more inpatient hospital care and longer length of hospital stay, little is known about risk factors for delirium in patients undergoing vascular surgery.

Methods: Pre-, intra-, and postoperative data were prospectively collected, including the first 7 postoperative days with daily follow-up by a surgeon and a psychiatrist of 153 patients undergoing elective vascular surgery.

Low symmetry patterns on magnetic fluids.

The pattern formation on the free surface of a magnetic fluid subjected simultaneously to a vertical and a horizontal magnetic field is investigated theoretically. In this anisotropic system planforms less symmetric then squares and hexagons arise. The relative stability of parallel ridges and asymmetric patterns, periodic on a rectangular or a rhombic lattice, is studied using a perturbative energy minimization procedure.
