Article Synopsis
  • A new formula called PSA-age volume (AV) score integrates age, prostate volume, race, and PSA levels to improve prostate cancer detection.
  • The PSA-AV score was developed from 1000 biopsy specimens and validated with a larger sample group, demonstrating that a lower score indicates a higher cancer risk.
  • Using a PSA-AV score of 700 provides a better detection method, increasing the detection of cancers while reducing unnecessary biopsies in certain patient groups.
