Background: Although trust and psychological safety (PS) are critical for improving patient safety and medical error reporting, little is known about how they work together and how health care systems promote PS.

Purpose: This study examined how leadership for self-worth, inclusion, and trust may work together to foster PS and how this influences medical error reporting.

Approach: Data were collected in 2019 from 373 employees (24% response rate) in 85 hospital departments (54% response rate) in a nonprofit health care system in the eastern United States.

Objectives: To assess the impact of delayed cord clamping (DCC) for 45 seconds on hemoglobin at birth and close to discharge in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants and to compare modes of delivery in infants who received DCC.

Study Design: In a retrospective study, 888 VLBW infants (≤1,500 g) who survived to discharge and received immediate cord clamping (ICC) were compared with infants who received DCC. Infants who received DCC and born via Cesarean section (C-section) were compared with those born via vaginal birth.

For perioperative mechanical ventilation under general anesthesia, modern respirators aim at combining the benefits of pressure-controlled ventilation (PCV) and volume-controlled ventilation (VCV) in modes typically named "volume-guaranteed" or "volume-targeted" pressure-controlled ventilation (PCV-VG). This systematic review and meta-analysis tested the hypothesis that PCV-VG modes of ventilation could be beneficial in terms of improved airway pressures (P, P, P), dynamic compliance (C), or arterial blood gases (PO, PCO) in adults undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia. Three major medical electronic databases were searched with predefined search strategies and publications were systematically evaluated according to the Cochrane Review Methods.

Background: Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common complication after surgery.

Objective: We sought to determine the association between preoperative anticholinergic load calculated using the anticholinergic drug scale (ADS) and POD in cancer patients over 65 years of age.

Design: A retrospective sub-investigation of a randomised controlled interventional trial.
