Aim: To assess the effectiveness of intravenous caffeine citrate in paediatric asthma exacerbation unresponsive to beta2-agonists and steroids.

Methods: A 10-year retrospective cohort study was conducted on asthmatic children unresponsive to beta2-agonists and steroids, who were treated with either intravenous caffeine citrate or magnesium sulphate. The study outcomes were changes in the Paediatric Respiratory Assessment Measure (PRAM) score, duration of oxygen therapy and paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) length-of-stay.

Background: With Direct Acting Antivirals for Hepatitis C virus (HCV), cure is possible in > 95% including those with HIV/HCV co-infection. Achieving strategic targets for cure requires addressing barriers including suboptimal care engagement. We adapted Data to Care (D2C), a public health strategy designed to identify and link persons out of care (OOC) for HIV, for persons with HIV/HCV co-infection untreated for HCV.

The SH2-containing inositol phosphatase (SHIP) has become an actively researched therapeutic target for a number of disorders, including Alzheimer's Disease, Graft-vs-Host disease, obesity and cancer. Analogs of the aminosteroid SHIP inhibitor 3a-aminocholestane (3AC) have been synthesized and tested. Analogs with improved water solubility have been identified.
