The tick causes enormous economic losses in livestock farming around the world. Despite several promising studies carried out with plant extracts such as against this ectoparasite, a major obstacle is related to pharmaceutical presentation forms. There is no study showing xantan gum-based hydrogel and polycaprolactone nanoparticles containing extract against larvae.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers compared two methods to assess the risk of cardiac events in patients: the Gensini score (which evaluates coronary atherosclerosis burden) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) for plaque morphology.
  • Out of 847 patients studied, 56 (6.6%) experienced serious cardiac issues within one year, with higher risks associated with higher Gensini scores and certain OCT features like thin fibrous caps and large lipid arcs.
  • Both the Gensini score and specific OCT characteristics were found to be independent predictors of cardiac events, indicating that patients with greater atherosclerosis and vulnerable plaques are at a higher risk for adverse outcomes.

Gentisic acid (2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid) is primarily found naturally in plants and has demonstrated a significant range of biological activities; however, its efficacy and safety as a topical application ingredient are not yet well established. Thus, the compound's potential antioxidant and antimicrobial properties were evaluated for efficacy, while the cytotoxicity was evaluated for safety. The antioxidant activity, measured by the DPPH kinetic method, showed an Efficiency Concentration (EC) of 0.

Purpose: To estimate the pupil size (at the iris plane) under photopic (P PH ) and scotopic (P S ) conditions after phacoemulsification with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation.

Methods This Retrospective Observational Cohort Study Included: 190 virgin eyes from 190 patients who underwent cataract surgery with IOL implantation. Data collected with Aladdin (Topcon), AS-OCT MS-39 (CSO), and iTrace (Tracey) were SimK, mean pupillary power at 6 mm (MPP), anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT), axial length (AL), lens rise (LR), P PH and P S before and after surgery at 30 days, dysfunctional lens index, and opacity grade.

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is still burdened by a substantial number of complications despite constant technological advances, including the advent of intracoronary imaging (ICI) techniques. ICI modalities have been instrumental for the understanding the mechanism of PCI failure. Thanks to the ability to detail the pre-intervention coronary anatomy and identify the features indicative of sub-optimal stent deployment, ICI techniques can be utilised to improve coronary interventions in different clinical scenarios.
