Understanding how defects are generated and propagate during operation in modern vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSEL) is an important challenge in order to develop the next generation of highly reliable semiconductor lasers. Undesired oxidation processes or performance degrading dislocation networks are typically investigated by conventional failure analysis after damage formation. In this works new approach to VCSEL failure analysis, oxide confined high power VCSELs are investigated in-situ at elevated temperatures in a transmission electron microscope.

Identifying modifiable provider perspectives that are associated with decreased racial disparities will help in the design of effective educational interventions for providers. This cross-sectional study investigated the association between primary care provider (PCP) perspectives on race and racial disparities with patient outcomes.

Methods: We used linear and logistic regression models to analyze the association of the Interpersonal Processes of Care survey (IPC) with HbA1c, medication adherence, and missed appointments. We then examined how these associations differed by race.
Background: Metallic implants (MIs) complicate radiotherapy planning. Several studies have worked on tissue-equivalent phantoms as experimental models to estimate dose distributions in this context. The application of these results to clinical practice remains disputable because the inhomogeneity of human tissue densities is a difficult factor to integrate into dose calculation software.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the tissue reaction and cytokine production promoted by aPDT with curcumin photosensitizer.
Methods: Polyethylene tubes containing saline solution (control), 5% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and aPDT with curcumin PS 500mg/L, were implanted into dorsal connective tissue of Wistar rats.
