Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative condition and the primary form of dementia among elderly people. The amyloidogenic hypothesis is the main theory that explains this phenomenon and describes the extracellular accumulation of amyloid beta (Aβ) peptides. Model organisms such as Drosophila melanogaster have been utilized to improve the understanding of this disease and its treatment.

Chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) is a widely accepted method for inducing depressive-like states in animal models. We decided to explore the effects of CUMS on the CantonS lineage of Drosophila melanogaster, which differs from the OregonR lineage in various ways. Additionally, we wanted to investigate the potential benefits of kefir in treating these chronically stressed flies, as previous research has shown promising results in using kefir components for depression treatment.

The impact of gestational diabetes on the prostates of adult offspring has already been described; however, it is not known whether these effects are due only to the maternal condition or whether the offspring develop them throughout life.

Brazilian researchers reached out to a researcher in the United States to co-develop Brazilian surveys to measure autism stigma and knowledge.
