Importance: Development of myocardial fibrosis in patients with aortic stenosis precedes left ventricular decompensation and is associated with an adverse long-term prognosis.

Objective: To investigate whether early valve intervention reduced the incidence of all-cause death or unplanned aortic stenosis-related hospitalization in asymptomatic patients with severe aortic stenosis and myocardial fibrosis.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This prospective, randomized, open-label, masked end point trial was conducted between August 2017 and October 2022 at 24 cardiac centers across the UK and Australia.

Aims: Transthoracic echocardiography is recommended in all patients with acute coronary syndrome but is time-consuming and lacks an evidence base. We aimed to assess the feasibility, diagnostic accuracy, and time efficiency of hand-held echocardiography in patients with acute coronary syndrome and describe the impact of echocardiography on clinical management in this setting.

Methods And Results: Patients with acute coronary syndrome underwent both hand-held and transthoracic echocardiographies with agreement between key imaging parameters assessed using kappa statistics.

We present our technique for second-stage scrotoplasty with autologous tissue augmentation following gender-affirming metoidioplasty. This technique augments the scrotum while removing the upper labia majora and making the penis more visible and accessible. This procedure avoids the need for testicular prostheses and their potential for discomfort, displacement, extrusion, or infection.

We have previously shown that heterotrimeric G-protein subunit alphai2 (Gα2) is essential for cell migration and invasion in prostate, ovarian and breast cancer cells, and novel small molecule inhibitors targeting Gα2 block its effects on migratory and invasive behavior. In this study, we have identified potent, metabolically stable, second generation Gα2 inhibitors which inhibit cell migration in prostate cancer cells. Recent studies have shown that chemotherapy can induce the cancer cells to migrate to distant sites to form metastases.

Tripartite motif (TRIM)-containing proteins are a family of regulatory proteins that can participate in the induction of antiviral cytokines and antagonize viral replication. Promyelocytic leukemia (PML) protein is known as TRIM19 and is a major scaffold protein organizing the PML nuclear bodies (NBs). PML NBs are membrane-less organelles in the nucleus and play a diverse role in maintaining cellular homeostasis including antiviral response.
