ATPase cation transporting 13A2 (ATP13A2) is an endolysosomal P-type ATPase known to be a polyamine transporter, explored mostly in neurons. As endolysosomal functions are also crucial in innate immune cells, we aimed to explore the potential role of ATP13A2 in the human immunocellular compartment. We found that human plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs), the professional type I IFN-producing immune cells, especially have a prominent enrichment of ATP13A2 expression in endolysosomal compartments.

T cells are crucial for efficient antigen-specific immune responses and thus their migration within the body, to inflamed tissues from circulating blood or to secondary lymphoid organs, plays a very critical role. T cell extravasation in inflamed tissues depends on chemotactic cues and interaction between endothelial adhesion molecules and cellular integrins. A migrating T cell is expected to sense diverse external and membrane-intrinsic mechano-physical cues, but molecular mechanisms of such mechanosensing in cell migration are not established.

Understanding the dynamic changes in gene expression during Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) progression in post-acute infection patients is crucial for unraveling the underlying mechanisms.
