Pancreatic surgery is associated with a high risk for postoperative complications and death of patients. Complications occur in a variable interval after the procedure. Often, a patient has already left the ICU and is not properly monitored anymore when the complication occurs.

Purpose: To determine repair site bulk, gliding resistance, work of flexion, and 1-mm gap formation force in zone II flexor tendon lacerations repaired with knotless barbed or traditional braided suture.

Methods: Transverse zone II lacerations of the flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) tendon were created in 36 digits from 6 matched human cadaveric pairs. Repair was performed with 2-0 barbed suture (n = 18) or 3-0 polyethylene braided suture (n = 18).

Purpose: To evaluate the utility of radiographs taken 2 weeks following plate fixation of distal radius fractures.

Methods: A retrospective review of patients requiring operative fixation of distal radius fractures was performed with the objective of determining the utility of a 2-week postoperative radiograph in patient management.

Results: Three out of 268 (1%) patients had loss of fixation noted radiographically at the 2-week visit that resulted in a reoperation.
