Transcription and RNA decay determine steady-state RNA levels in cells available for translation and RNA-mediated regulatory functions. Both processes can be assessed by various techniques, for majority, based on RNA labelling or chromatin immunoprecipitation, but require a high level of expertise. Here, we describe a cost-effective, fast, and simple protocol that enables the profiling of nascent and mature RNA in the cytoplasm, nucleoplasm, and chromatin through subcellular fractionation.

Accurate assessment of body composition is essential for evaluating the risk of chronic disease. 3D body shape, obtainable using smartphones, correlates strongly with body composition. We present a novel method that fits a 3D body mesh to a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) silhouette (emulating a single photograph) paired with anthropometric traits, and apply it to the multi-phase Fenland study comprising 12,435 adults.

Background And Aim Of The Work: Uncovering the barriers and facilitators of antibiotic prescribing is crucial in order to develop effective strategies for promoting responsible and evidence-based antibiotic use, thereby combating antibiotic resistance and enhancing patient care. This qualitative study, informed by the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) - specifically designed to understand and analyze the factors that influence human behavior, with a focus on identifying barriers and facilitators to behavior change, was aimed to explore the determinants (barriers and facilitators) of antibiotic prescribing behaviors from the perspective of doctors.

Research Design And Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with healthcare professionals, and data analysis followed a theory-driven approach guided by the TDF.

Article Synopsis
  • The text discusses the limitations of traditional deep learning methods when processing spherical data, which often results in distortions when converted to flat representations.
  • It introduces HexNet, a new deep learning framework designed for spherical signals that enhances computational speed and allows for high-resolution processing by using a better arrangement of the data.
  • HexNet is shown to outperform existing methods in semantic segmentation on specific datasets and demonstrates superior performance by minimizing distortion effects typically seen with planar CNNs.

Long noncoding (lnc)RNAs modulate gene expression alongside presenting unexpected source of neoantigens. Despite their immense interest, their ability to be transferred and control adjacent cells is unknown. Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) offer a protective environment for nucleic acids, with pro and antitumourigenic functions by controlling the immune response.
