Sources of marine litter along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast: Identification, scoring and contribution.

The sources of marine litter (ML) pollution along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast in 2019 were identified and categorized to: Public litter, Fishing, Shipping, Sanitary and sewage, Fly tipped, Medical and Non-sourced, following Veiga et al., 2016 approach. Largest was the contribution of Public litter - 48.

Quantitative assessment of marine litter (ML) along the Bulgarian Black Sea coastline was presented. ML surveys were conducted every season in a total of 8 beach monitoring sites during 2015-2016. Eight main categories of material were determined, based on standard OSPAR monitoring protocol.

In this study marine litter (ML) surveys were conducted in 8 beaches along the Bulgarian Black Sea coastline within 4 seasons for 2015-2016. The monitoring applied OSPAR guideline, classifying ML in eight categories and 167 types. The results exhibited predominance of artificial polymer materials - 84.

Decrease in ambient air lead concentrations in Varna, Bulgaria, associated with the introduction of unleaded gasoline.

An examination of ambient air lead monitoring data was used to demonstrate success of banning the import and use of leaded gasoline in Bulgaria. From 1996-2007 air lead levels in Varna, the third largest city, decreased up to 63-fold.

Assessment of the working-environment harmful factors and health risk of workers in a nitrogen fertilizer plant.

The authors examined the influence of harmful factors of the working environment such as: microclimate, dust, noise, vibrations, and chemical noxes such as: ammonia, nitric oxides, hydrogen fluoride and gaseous fluorides, on the health status of workers involved in the production of fertilizers and ammonia in a nitrogen fertilizer plant. Various biochemical examinations of 158 workers were carried out. The morbidity rate for 1993-1995 was also studied.
