Novel tablet formulation of amorphous candesartan cilexetil solid dispersions involving P-gp inhibition for optimal drug delivery: in vitro and in vivo evaluation.

Objective: The aim of this study was to develop a novel tablet formulation of amorphous candesartan cilexetil (CAN) solid dispersion involving effective P-gp inhibition for optimal drug delivery by direct compression (DC) method.

Methods: To accomplish DC, formulation blends were evaluated for micromeritic properties. The Carr index, Hausner ratio, flow rate and cotangent of the angle α were determined.

An unusual case of a synovial sarcoma of the parotid gland in an elderly patient.

Synovial sarcoma is a malignant soft tissue neoplasm which mostly occurs in adolescents and young adults. The tumor is rare in the head and neck region although it has been described at virtually every anatomic site. Synovial sarcoma can mimic benign lesions clinically and histologically and is therefore sometimes difficult to diagnose.

[Laryngopyocele. Rare cause of relapsing cervical infections].

A laryngopyocele forms when a laryngocele, as a dilatation of the laryngeal ventricle, becomes infected and fills with mucopus. Laryngopyoceles are rare, as only few cases have been previously reported in the literature. The case of a 75-year-old woman who was treated twice because of a deep cervical infection is described.

[Use of a chlorhexidine-fuchsin solution for ear, nose and throat diseases].

Castellani's solution can no longer be used for medication due to the critical status of its ingredients. A solution of chlorhexidine and fuchsin is proposed as an alternative. This has good antimicrobial effectiveness and can be used in difficult cases of otitis externa solution for the treatment of cavities after mastoidectomy.
