Many aspects of inflammation increase with aging in mice and humans. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that many murine anti-aging interventions produce lower levels of pro-inflammatory proteins. Here, we explore the hypothesis that different longevity interventions diminish NF-κB levels, potentially mediating some of the anti-inflammatory benefits of lifespan-extending interventions.

Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (mHBOT) is an adjuvant therapy used in conditions where tissue oxygenation is reduced and is implemented using pressures less than 1.5 ATA and 100% O (instead of the classical HBOT at 1.9-3 ATA) which results in cheaper, easier to implement, and equally effective.

We study the crossing time statistic of diffusing point particles between the two ends of expanding and narrowing two-dimensional conical channels under a transverse external gravitational field. The theoretical expression for the mean first-passage time for such a system is derived under the assumption that the axial diffusion in a two-dimensional channel of smoothly varying geometry can be approximately described as a one-dimensional diffusion in an entropic potential with position-dependent effective diffusivity in terms of the modified Fick-Jacobs equation. We analyze the channel crossing dynamics in terms of the mean first-passage time, combining our analytical results with extensive two-dimensional Brownian dynamics simulations, allowing us to find the range of applicability of the one-dimensional approximation.

Although the pour plate method is widely employed in microbiological quality control, it has certain drawbacks, including having to melt the culture medium before seeding. In this study, the preparation of the culture medium was modified by using a lower concentration of agar (10 g/L), which was separated from the nutrients during sterilization. The new protocol was assessed in media frequently used in microbiological quality control of food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical products, with tryptic soy agar (TSA), Sabouraud 4% dextrose agar (SDA), and violet red bile glucose agar (VRBG).
