Background: Genomic sequencing technology allows for identification of reproductive couples with an increased chance, as compared with that in the general population, of having a child with an autosomal recessive or X-linked genetic condition.
Methods: We investigated the feasibility, acceptability, and outcomes of a nationwide, couple-based genetic carrier screening program in Australia as part of the Mackenzie's Mission project. Health care providers offered screening to persons before pregnancy or early in pregnancy.
Increasing evidence suggests an association between atopic dermatitis, the most chronic inflammatory disease of the skin, and autism spectrum disorders, which are a group of neurodevelopmental diseases. Inflammation and immune dysregulation associated with genetic and environmental factors seem to characterize the pathophysiological mechanisms of both conditions. We conducted a literature review of the PubMed database aimed at identifying the clinical features and alleged risk factors that could be used in clinical practice to predict the onset of ASD and/or AD or worsen their prognosis in the context of comorbidities.

Background: Hypersensitivity reactions to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (HR-NSAIDs) are common adverse events related to the widespread use of over-the-counter NSAIDs for the treatment of a variety of inflammatory conditions. Urticaria is the most commonly reported immediate cutaneous clinical sign of HR-NSAIDs, but it can be a manifestation of pathophysiologically different clinical entities that require different therapeutic strategies. The aim of this study is to ease the identification of the correct phenotype of HR-NSAIDs in patients reporting urticaria associated with the intake of NSAIDs and provide updated information about their diagnosis and management.
