Purpose: To identify, synthesise and critically appraise findings of systematic reviews and meta-analyses on pre- and post-operative radiographic angles (lateral distal femoral angle [LDFA], medial proximal tibial angle [MPTA] and hip-knee-ankle [HKA] angle) of unrestricted kinematic alignment versus mechanical alignment in total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Methods: Two authors searched MEDLINE, EMBASE and Epistemonikos for systematic reviews, with or without meta-analyses, that reported on TKA outcomes using unrestricted kinematic alignment. The methodological quality of the included systematic reviews and meta-analyses was independently assessed using A MeaSurement Tool to Assess systematic Reviews (AMSTAR-2).

Background: Adequate exposure is essential in revision total knee arthroplasty (RTKA). Tibial tubercle osteotomy (TTO) enhances exposure, but its use is controversial in the setting of periprosthetic infection. The purposes of this study were to determine (1) the rates of complications and revisions due to TTO during RTKA in the setting of a periprosthetic infection, (2) the rate of septic failure, and (3) functional outcomes at a minimum 2-year follow-up.

In the current COVID-19 pandemic, various Automated Exposure Notification (AEN) systems have been proposed to help quickly identify potential contacts of infected individuals. All these systems try to leverage the current understanding of the following factors: transmission risk, technology to address risk modeling, system policies and privacy considerations. While AEN holds promise for mitigating the spread of COVID-19, using short-range communication channels (Bluetooth) in smartphones to detect close individual contacts may be inaccurate for modeling and informing transmission risk.
