Systematic intraoperative cholangiography during elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy: Is it a justifiable practice?

Backgrounds/aims: Routine execution of intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) in laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is considered a good practice to help early identification of biliary duct injuries (BDIs) or common bile duct (CBD) stones. This study aimed to determine the impact of IOC during LC.

Methods: This is a retrospective, monocentric study, including patients with a LC performed from January 2020 to December 2021.

Health-promoting behaviors and self-efficacy among nursing students in times of uncertainty.

Background: Nursing students are often faced with academic and personal stressors that threaten their Health-Promoting Behaviors (HPB) and well-being. Research on how living in a context of high political uncertainty can impact nursing students' HPB is limited. The aim of this study was to investigate the associations between HPB and self-efficacy among nursing students in a context of high political uncertainty.

Music therapy increases serum melatonin levels in patients with Alzheimer's disease.

Context: Music therapy is known to have healing and relaxing effects. Although these effects appear to be mediated by release of neurotransmitters and neurohormones, the specific neurohormonal systems involved have not been fully investigated.

Objective: To assess the effects of a music therapy intervention on concentrations of melatonin, norepinephrine, epinephrine, serotonin, and prolactin in the blood of a group of patients with Alzheimer's disease.

Electroconvulsive therapy in octogenarians.
