Article Synopsis
  • The Lunar Environment heliospheric X-ray Imager (LEXI) is designed to capture x-ray images from solar wind interactions in Earth's magnetosheath, helping researchers understand energy transfer into Earth's magnetosphere.
  • As part of a lunar lander mission landing in Mare Crisium, LEXI features a unique array of 48 neodymium magnets to protect against interference from charged particles while minimizing stray magnetic fields.
  • A Runge-Kutta-based simulation model shows that LEXI's deflector array and other particle suppression methods effectively limit proton and electron contamination, ensuring the success of its imaging capabilities and offering insights for similar instruments.

Article Synopsis
  • The Lunar Environment heliospheric X-ray Imager (LEXI) is a soft X-ray telescope designed for studying how solar wind interacts with the Earth’s magnetosphere as part of the Blue Ghost 1 mission, which includes 10 payloads on the lunar surface.
  • LEXI focuses on capturing soft X-rays emitted during solar wind interactions, to observe the position and shape of the magnetopause over time.
  • Using lobster-eye optics, LEXI has a wide 9.1-degree field of view, allowing it to image magnetic reconnection phenomena in detail.

The Cusp Plasma Imaging Detector (CuPID) CubeSat observatory is a 6U CubeSat designed to observe solar wind charge exchange in magnetospheric cusps to test competing theories of magnetic reconnection at the Earth's magnetopause. The CuPID is equipped with three instruments, namely, a wide field-of-view (4.6° × 4.

RNA structural transitions are important in the function and regulation of RNAs. Here, we reveal a layer of transcriptome organization in the form of RNA folding energies. By probing yeast RNA structures at different temperatures, we obtained relative melting temperatures (Tm) for RNA structures in over 4000 transcripts.
