Volume-viscosity swallow test to facilitate individualized dietary modifications for dysphagia following intracerebral hemorrhage.

Purpose: This study examined the effects of individualized dietary modifications based on the volume-viscosity swallow test (V-VST) on functional oral intake, incidence of pneumonia, and swallowing-related quality of life in individuals with intracerebral hemorrhage.

Methods: One hundred and seven participants with signs of dysphagia in the acute and early subacute phases of stroke following intracerebral hemorrhage were randomly assigned into an experimental group for individualized dietary modifications based on V-VST plus routine standard care (n = 53), and a control group for routine care alone (n = 54). Incidence of pneumonia, functional oral intake scale (FOIS) ratings and Eating Assessment Tool (EAT-10) scores before and after intervention were evaluated.

Purpose: Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) can have a profound impact on the lives of cancer survivors. A multitude of subjective and objective assessment tools exist to assess the presence and severity of CRCI. However, no purpose-built tool exists to assess the unmet needs of cancer survivors directly relating to CRCI.

The pattern of cytokine profile in children received extracorporeal blood purification.

We reported the cytokine profile in children <18 years old who received extracorporeal blood purification (EBP) for sepsis, rhabdomyolysis, hyperbilirubinaemia, acute respiratory distress syndrome or cytokine storm, and determined the factors affecting the cytokine removal kinetics. Plasma levels of 38 types of cytokine/chemokine were measured at pre-EBP, 12 and 24 h after initiating EBP. Altogether there were 11 eligible episodes admitted between April 2021 and December 2023.

Altered Sensorimotor Striatal Network Connectivity in Women With Anorexia Nervosa.

Objective: Anorexia nervosa (AN) is associated with disturbances in reward processing, cognitive control, and body image perception, implicating striatal dysfunction. Evidence suggests that underweight may modulate brain function in AN. We aimed to investigate whole-brain resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) of the striatum in patients with AN while controlling for the acute effects of underweight.
