Article Synopsis
  • - This phase 3 trial assessed the self-amplifying mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, ARCT-154, against the ChAdOx1-S adenovirus-vector vaccine in Vietnam, involving nearly 2,400 adult participants.
  • - Both vaccines had similar safety profiles, with mainly mild-to-moderate side effects and few serious adverse events reported.
  • - ARCT-154 showed higher neutralizing antibody responses and efficacy against COVID-19 compared to ChAdOx1-S, suggesting potential immunological advantages without compromising safety.

Abstract In a phase 2 trial of panobinostat in 129 patients with relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma, exploratory analyses of chemokines and cytokines were prospectively performed in 109 patients to determine their association with clinical outcomes. Patients were categorized into two groups (reductions > median and reductions ≤ median) based on percentage change from baseline of log10 transformed measurements. Thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC) was most strongly associated with clinical outcome.

Purpose: To conduct an exploratory analysis of the relationship between gene expression and recurrence in patients with operable triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) treated with adjuvant doxorubicin-containing chemotherapy.

Experimental Design: RNA was extracted from archived tumor samples derived from 246 patients with stage I-III TNBC treated with adjuvant doxorubicin-containing chemotherapy, and was analyzed by quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR for a panel of 374 genes. The relationship between gene expression and recurrence was evaluated using weighted Cox proportional hazards model score tests.

Purpose: To survey the effect of the 21-gene recurrence score (RS) assay results on adjuvant treatment recommendations for patients with lymph node-positive (N+), estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer.

Methods: Medical oncologists who ordered the 21-gene RS assay were invited to complete a survey regarding their most recent patient with N+/ER+ breast cancer. We obtained responses from 160 (16%) of the 1,017 medical oncologists.

Background: In the later stage of the clinical development of new vaccines it is required to demonstrate their efficacy with the immunogenicity measures established as correlates for disease protection. Evaluation of interpandemic trivalent influenza vaccines is commonly assessed by three immunogenicity measures for each strain in different age groups: Seroprotection, Seroconversion and Geometric Mean Titers. US and European guidelines with respect to this topic have been issued for the licensure of new influenza vaccines.
