The postural variations in the retinal microcirculation in glaucomatous patients were studied by evaluation of the oscillatory potentials (OPs) of the ERG. The OPs in scotopic adaptation were examined in subjects with primary open-angle glaucoma and in an age- and sex-matched normal control group in different body positions (seated, supine, anti-Trendelenburg, Trendelenburg). In the seated position, the difference of mean OP amplitude between the control group and the glaucomatous patients was highly significant (p < 0.

Dystrophin is present in various tissues other than skeletal and cardiac muscles, including the central nervous system (CNS) and the outer plexiform layer of the retina. Therefore lack of dystrophin might be related to mental retardation or to changes in electrophysiological tests exploring retina and CNS. We performed electroretinography, VEPs, BAEPs, SEPs and MEPs in 18 patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), 18 with Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD) and 12 obligate carriers.

The object of the present study was to evaluate, with the aid of visual evoked potentials (VEPs), modifications induced in the optic nerve by lead, and to investigate the relationship between blood lead levels (PbB) and modification of the VEP. We studied a sample of 300 men with PbB values between 17 and 60 micrograms/100 ml. Our study demonstrates that alterations in the latency of the VEP are dependent on PbB levels, though there is not a directly proportional relationship.

Contrast sensitivity has been measured in patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension, the latter graded into high, medium, and low risk clinical groups. Measurements were made centrally and peripherally at 10 degrees, 15 degrees, 20 degrees, and 25 degrees off-axis at each of the four meridians 45 degrees, 135 degrees, 225 degrees, and 315 degrees. A sine wave grating of 1.
