Twelve-month follow-up of a controlled trial of a brief behavioural intervention to reduce psychological distress in young adolescent Syrian refugees.

Aims: The majority of studies of mental health interventions for young adolescents have only evaluated short-term benefits. This study evaluated the longer-term effectiveness of a non-specialist delivered group-based intervention (Early Adolescent Skills for Emotions; EASE) to improve young adolescents' mental health.

Methods: In this single-blind, parallel, controlled trial, Syrian refugees aged 10-14 years in Jordan who screened positive for psychological distress were randomised to receive either EASE or enhanced usual care (EUC).

Upadacitinib induction is effective and safe in ulcerative colitis patients including those with prior exposure to tofacitinib: a multicenter real-world cohort study.

Background/aims: Upadacitinib is a novel selective Janus kinase inhibitor approved for use in ulcerative colitis. Clinical trials had rigorous criteria and excluded many patient subgroups. Given limited real-world effectiveness data, we examined outcomes of patients treated with upadacitinib for ulcerative colitis in a real-world population.

Hypercoagulation after Hospital Discharge in Acute Severe Ulcerative Colitis: A Prospective Study.

Background & Aims: Venous thromboembolism is a serious complication during and following hospitalization with acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC). We evaluated serial thrombotic profiles of patients with ASUC from the point of hospitalization up to 12 weeks post-discharge and compared these with control patients with quiescent UC.

Methods: Twenty-seven patients with ASUC and 25 control patients with quiescent ulcerative colitis (UC) were recruited.

Guidelines recommend an early, positive diagnosis to reduce harmful over-investigation in FGID patients. The aim of this multicentre study was to evaluate FGID management against current guidelines.
