Within the clinical laboratory, hemolysis, icterus, and lipemia are commonly assessed spectrophotometrically. While clinical laboratories rely on analyte-specific quality control (QC) materials to monitor test or instrument performance, QC materials evaluating specimen integrity checks are infrequently implemented.
