Personalized target therapies represent one of the possible treatment strategies to fight the ongoing battle against cancer. New treatment interventions are still needed for an effective and successful cancer therapy. In this scenario, we simulated and analyzed the dynamics of BRAF V600E melanoma patients treated with BRAF inhibitors in order to find potentially interesting targets that may make standard treatments more effective in particularly aggressive tumors that may not respond to selective inhibitor drugs.

Objective: Ventilator-associated pneumonia (PN) is difficult to distinguish from trauma-induced systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), especially in patients with multiple injuries. Previous work using bronchoscopy and quantitative cultures demonstrated significant bacterial growth in about one-third of patients with clinical evidence of PN. In this prospective study, antibiotic therapy for PN was based solely on quantitative bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) cultures.

Background: The overproduction of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF) plays a key role in virtually every experimental model of septic shock, which has led to the development of several therapies that target TNF and other cytokines in clinical sepsis. However, our previous work showed that plasma TNF was reduced, rather than increased, when a septic challenge was administered 3 days after hemorrhagic shock.
