Metallosis with subsequent cardiac involvement is a possible long-term complication of hip arthroplasty. We report the case of a young female referred to our centre for the suspicion of cardiac amyloidosis presenting with low electrocardiogram voltage, left ventricular hypertrophy, pericardial effusion, and global and longitudinal systolic impairment with apical sparing pattern. Her medical history was remarkable for arthroplasty in the context of congenital hip dysplasia.

This study presents the application of metabolomics to evaluate changes in the rumen metabolites of beef cattle fed with three different diet types: forage-rich, mixed and concentrate-rich. Rumen fluid samples were analysed by H-NMR spectroscopy and the resulting spectra were used to characterise and compare metabolomic profiles between diet types and assess the potential for NMR metabolite signals to be used as proxies of methane emissions (CH in g/kg DMI). The dataset available consisted of 128 measurements taken from 4 experiments with CH measurements taken in respiration chambers.

The aim of this study was to estimate the independent effects of biofilm accumulation and eruption stage on the occurrence of active caries lesions on occlusal surfaces of permanent molars. The sample consisted of 298 schoolchildren (6-15 years) who were examined by a calibrated examiner at a dental unit, using artificial light, a dental mirror and a WHO probe. The occurrence of visible biofilm on occlusal surfaces and the eruption stage of each permanent molar were recorded.
