Purpose: The present study was carried out to evaluate the radioprotective activities of N-acetyl-L-tryptophan (L-NAT) using rodent and non-human primate (NHP) models.

Materials And Methods: The antagonistic effect of L-NAT on the Transient receptor potential vanilloid-1 (TRPV1) receptor and substance P inhibition was determined using molecular docking and Elisa assays. The in radioprotective activity of L-NAT was evaluated using whole-body survival assays in mice and NHPs.

The parotid, submandibular, and sublingual salivary glands are the major salivary glands in the mouth. Cancers that arise in these glands are relatively uncommon, usually benign, and rarely metastasize. • Post infectious glomerulonephritis (APIGN) is a leading cause of hospital admissions in children in developing countries, with a study conducted in Nepal examining its prevalence and associated factors.
  • The study included 1554 children over three years, revealing a prevalence rate of 4.05% for APIGN, with key clinical findings such as elevated antistreptolysin O titers and low serum C3 levels.
  • The findings underscore the continuing health risk posed by APIGN in children and the importance of surveillance and management strategies in addressing this issue in areas like Nepal.

Article Synopsis
  • Bacterial keratitis is a serious eye infection that can lead to corneal inflammation and potentially blindness, but can be treated with topical fluoroquinolones and corticosteroids like Gatifloxacin and Dexamethasone.
  • A new bioanalytical method using tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) has been developed to simultaneously measure Gatifloxacin and Dexamethasone, achieving separation in under 5 minutes with high accuracy.
  • The method was validated according to USFDA guidelines and applied successfully in a study analyzing these drugs in rabbit tear fluid after topical application, demonstrating its effectiveness for pharmacokinetic analysis.
