L1210 leukemia was used to compare the antitumor activities of three nitrosoureas (chlorozotocin, RFCNU and CNCC) encapsulated in liposomes with those in the free state. The results obtained varied according to the chemical structure of the compound, its solubility in oil or water, the route of administration into the body, and the treatment dose. The application of liposomes in the chemotherapy of malignant disease deserves further investigations.

Addition of calcium-containing liposomes to the superfusing medium increased the chemoreceptors' discharges. This effect was abolished by hyperoxia or when EGTA-containing liposomes were simultaneously added with the calcium-containing liposomes.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAccording to previous authors, cytochrome b5, when extracted from bovine liver by a detergent method, is called cytochrome d-b5. On the other hand, the protein obtained after trypsin action, which eliminates an hydrophobic peptide of about 54 residues, is called cytochrome t-b5. Fluorescence polarization of the dansyl phosphatidylethanolamine probe inserted into phospholipid vesicles is very sensitive to the binding of proteins, and so is a useful method to study lipid-protein interactions.
