Unlabelled: Morgagni hernias account for less than 5% of congenital diaphragmatic hernias. They are characteristically retrosternal and bilateral, with right-sided predominance. An association between Trisomy 21 and diaphragmatic hernias resembling Morgagni hernia has been reported, but the effect of cardiac surgery on its formation has not been investigated.

The Aharonov-Casher effect is the analogue of the Aharonov-Bohm effect that applies to neutral particles carrying a magnetic moment. This effect can be manifested by vortices or fluxons flowing in trajectories that encompass an electric charge. These vortices have been predicted to result in a persistent voltage that fluctuates for different sample realizations.

Magnetoresistance measurements in a granular Nb nanoring reveal current-induced crossover between two distinct quantum coherence effects. At low bias currents, Cooper-pair coherence is manifested by Little-Parks oscillations with flux periodicity of h/2 e. At high bias currents, magnetoresistance oscillations with flux periods of h/ e are observed and interpreted as Aharonov-Bohm oscillations, reflecting the phase coherence of individual quasi-particles.

A single-electron transistor is a nano-device with large potential for low-power applications that can be used as logic elements in integrated circuits. In this device, the conductance oscillates with a well-defined period due to the Coulomb blockade effect. By using a unique technique, we explore single-electron transistors based on a single metallic nanoparticle with tunable coupling to electric leads.

A fermionic disordered one-dimensional wire in the presence of attractive interactions is known to have two distinct phases, a localized and superconducting, depending on the strength of interaction and disorder. The localized region may also exhibit a metallic behavior if the system size is shorter than the localization length. Here we show that the superconducting phase has a distribution of the entanglement entropy distinct from the metallic regime.
