Acute Torticollis Reaction Following Metoclopramide Use in a Pediatric Patient: A Comprehensive Case Report and Appraisal of Current Knowledge.

Dopamine receptor antagonists like metoclopramide are frequently used in a variety of clinical contexts to treat gastrointestinal disorders and control nausea and vomiting. However, it is associated with a high incidence of extrapyramidal side effects (EPS) in children, including dystonic movements and torticollis. This is the instance of a 9-year-old girl who developed abnormal movements of the neck and tongue, along with torticollis, within 48 hours of receiving intravenous metoclopramide for gastroenteritis.

Urological Examination Compared to Ultrasonography in Testicular Lump Assessment: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Background General practitioners (GPs) often expedite indeterminate scrotal lumps for urological evaluation. While a scrotal examination by a urologist is crucial, ultrasound (US) has become a routine component of clinical assessment regardless of the clinical examination findings and the nature of the symptoms. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of clinical examination compared to scrotal ultrasound, even when the suspicion of cancer was low.

Hyperhomocysteinemia prevalence among patients with venous thromboembolism.

Aims: The objectives of this study were to determine the plasma homocysteine (Hcy) levels and the prevalence of Hyperhomocysteinemia HHC) in a group of Tunisian patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) by comparing it with healthy controls.

Methods: it was an observational case-control study including patients hospitalized for the management of unprovoked DVT. For each subject, a routine biochemical assay was conducted, including plasma homocysteine measurement and determination of vitamin B12 and B9 levels, as these vitamins are essential for assessing hyperhomocysteinemia in DVT patients due to their role in regulating homocysteine.

Extraction, Purification, Characterization, and Wound Healing Effects of Novel Prickly Pear ( (L.) Mill.) Heteropolysaccharides.

The present study undertakes the purification of a novel polysaccharide from Tunisian prickly pear (L.) Mill.) rackets (PPPRs) and the determination of its physicochemical properties, structure, antibacterial and antioxidant properties, as well as its in vitro and in vivo wound healing potential.
