Brief Report: Stated Preferences for Long-Acting Injectable ART Among Mobile Men Living With HIV in Malawi: A Qualitative Study.

Background: Long-acting injectable (LAI) antiretroviral medications are as effective as daily oral antiretroviral therapy (ART) and offer discreet, less frequent dosing. LAIs may be ideal treatment options for people who experience challenges with adherence to daily oral ART, including mobile men living with HIV (MLHIV).

Methods: We conducted a qualitative substudy within two parent trials in 24 health facilities in Malawi that enrolled MLHIV ≥15 years not on ART.

Introduction: Despite myriad wellness programs, training demands restrict resident access. This study aimed to evaluate barriers to accessing mental health resources(MHR) and determine if differences exist between medical(MT) and surgical trainees(ST).

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was performed in one health system assessing awareness of and barriers to accessing MHR.

Background: Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) is the presence of somatic mutations in myeloid and lymphoid malignancy genes in the blood cells of individuals without a hematologic malignancy. Inflammation is hypothesized to be a key mediator in the progression of CHIP to hematologic malignancy and patients with CHIP have a high prevalence of inflammatory diseases. This study aimed to identify the prevalence and characteristics of CHIP in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Prostate Cancer Patient With Lymph-node Metastasis Treated Only With Methionine Restriction Has Stable Disease for Two Years Demonstrated With PET/CT and PSMA-PET Scanning and PSA Testing.

Background/aim: Metastatic prostate cancer is a recalcitrant disease. Our laboratory has previously treated prostate-cancer patients with methionine restriction effected by a low methionine diet and oral recombinant methioninase (o-rMETase), both alone and in combination with other agents. The present case is a 66-year-old patient who had a radical prostatectomy in 2019 with a Gleason score 3+3 and 3+4.

Elevated-c-MYC-expressing Fibrosarcoma Cells With Acquired Gemcitabine Resistance Remain Sensitive to Recombinant Methioninase: A Potential Clinical Strategy for a Recalcitrant Disease.

Background/aim: For second-line chemotherapy of soft-tissue sarcoma, gemcitabine is administered in combination with docetaxel. However, more effective treatments are required for advanced soft-tissue sarcoma, where the efficacy is limited. The purpose of the present study was to compare the efficacy of rMETase and gemcitabine against HT1080 human fibrosarcoma cells and Hs27 normal fibroblasts, as well as to identify and effectively treat HT1080 cells that are resistant to gemcitabine associated with elevated c-MYC.
