Supraglottic airway in neonatal porcine model.

Background: Positive pressure ventilation (PPV) in the delivery room is routinely performed using a face mask attached to a ventilation device. In 2023, the Consensus of Science and Treatment Recommendations for neonatal resuscitation stated that a supraglottic airway (SGA) can be used for PPV if resources and training permits. However, there is very limited data on tidal volume (V) delivery using SGAs.

Longitudinal host transcriptional responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection in adults with extremely high viral load.

Current understanding of viral dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 and host responses driving the pathogenic mechanisms in COVID-19 is rapidly evolving. Here, we conducted a longitudinal study to investigate gene expression patterns during acute SARS-CoV-2 illness. Cases included SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals with extremely high viral loads early in their illness, individuals having low SARS-CoV-2 viral loads early in their infection, and individuals testing negative for SARS-CoV-2.

GREGoR: Accelerating Genomics for Rare Diseases.

Rare diseases are collectively common, affecting approximately one in twenty individuals worldwide. In recent years, rapid progress has been made in rare disease diagnostics due to advances in DNA sequencing, development of new computational and experimental approaches to prioritize genes and genetic variants, and increased global exchange of clinical and genetic data. However, more than half of individuals suspected to have a rare disease lack a genetic diagnosis.
