Background: Human herpesvirus-8 (HHV8) can present with cutaneous or extracutaneous manifestations. While violaceous skin lesions characterize cutaneous Kaposi sarcoma, extracutaneous HHV8 is challenging to diagnose due to nonspecific symptoms.

Objectives: We evaluated the role of microbial cell-free DNA next-generation sequencing (mcfDNA NGS) in diagnosing HHV8-related illness.

Integrating Infant Safe Sleep and Breastfeeding Education Into an App in a Novel Approach to Reaching High-Risk Populations: Prospective Observational Study.

Background: Sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) is a leading cause of death for US infants, and nonrecommended sleep practices are reported in most of these deaths. SUID rates have not declined over the past 20 years despite significant educational efforts. Integration of prenatal safe sleep and breastfeeding education into a pregnancy app may be one approach to engaging pregnant individuals in education about infant care practices prior to childbirth.

: Acute stent thrombosis (ST) is a rare yet severe complication following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Herein, we investigated the possible association between routinely available coagulation and fibrinolysis markers with early ST. : Within a single-center registry, we investigated the association between the preprocedural platelet count, plasma levels of fibrinogen and D-Dimer, and the incidence of early ST in the first 30 days after PCI.

Likelihood of Preterm Birth in Patients After Antenatal Corticosteroid Administration in Relation to Diagnosis and Confounding Risk Factors: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

: In the case of threatened preterm birth (PTB) before the 34th week of pregnancy, the application of antenatal corticosteroids (ACSs) for the maturation of the fetal lung is a standard procedure in perinatal medicine. Common diagnoses for ACS use in pregnancy are the preterm rupture of membranes (PPROMs), placental bleeding, premature labor, preeclampsia, oligohydramnios, amniotic infection syndrome (AIS), and cervical insufficiency. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the current diagnosis, which results in ACS, and the patient's risk factors influence the risk of PTB events.

Understanding parental choices related to infant sleep practices in the United States using a mixed methods approach.

Background: This study aimed to gather information about parental practices, knowledge, and attitudes regarding infant sleep habits and environments, among families who practice non-recommended sleep practices.

Methods: We conducted one-on-one phone interviews with parents who had practiced non-recommended sleep methods with their infant and had or had not experienced an undesirable sleep event such as a fall. Interviews were recorded and coded with MAXQDA software.
