Objective: To investigate the way robotic assistance affected rate of complications in bariatric surgery at expert robotic and laparoscopic surgery facilities.

Background: While the benefits of robotic assistance were established at the beginning of surgical training, there is limited data on the robot's influence on experienced bariatric laparoscopic surgeons.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study using the BRO clinical database (2008-2022) collecting data of patients operated on in expert centers.

Objectives: Valid deduplication of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) case reports is critical to the utility of these data to inform HIV programs. The Haitian Ministry of Health (MSPP) and partners operate a case-based, national HIV/AIDS surveillance system (HASS), using deterministic and probabilistic procedures to identify duplicate records. Costal and crural diaphragm function during CO2 rebreathing in awake dogs.

If costal and crural diaphragm segments can perform as separate muscles, then CO2-stimulated ventilation may elicit differential segmental function. We studied diaphragm segmental length, shortening, and electromyogram (EMG) activity in 10 awake dogs chronically implanted with sonomicrometer transducers and EMG electrodes. During CO2 rebreathing, segmental shortening and EMG activity per whole tidal breath progressively increased, but segmental responses could not be differentiated at any level of CO2.

Late recurrence of a hepatocellular carcinoma in a patient with incomplete Alagille syndrome.

In this study, the case of a patient presenting a second hepatocellular carcinoma 13 years after resection of a first tumor of the same type is reported. In this case, etiological investigations remained negative, but an incomplete form of syndromatic Alagille syndrome with paucity of bile ducts in the nontumoral tissue was detected and associated with nodular regenerative hyperplasia and foci of dysplasia. Malignant transformation in Alagille syndrome seems to be extremely rare.
