A biomechanical analysis of four medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction techniques.

Background: Implant free medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction is an increasingly popular technique to address patellar instability. There remains sparse literature on the biomechanical differences between the most common femoral attachment fixation points including Schottle's point, superficial medial collateral ligament, and adductor magnus tendon. This study compared these reconstruction techniques as well as a novel triangle reconstruction integrating both superficial medial collateral ligament and adductor magnus tendon.

Internal validation of modified Mirels' scoring system for pathologic femur fractures.

Background: The proximal femur is a common site of bone metastasis. The Mirels' score is a frequently utilized system to identify patients at risk for pathologic fracture and while it has consistently demonstrated strong sensitivity, specificity has been relatively poor. Our group previously developed a Modified Mirels' scoring system which demonstrated improved ability to predict cases at risk of fracture in this patient population through modification of the Mirels' location score.

Endoscopic Gallbladder Drainage: A Comprehensive Review on Indications, Techniques, and Future Perspectives.

In recent years, therapeutic endoscopy has become a fundamental tool in the management of gallbladder diseases in light of its minimal invasiveness, high clinical efficacy, and good safety profile. Both endoscopic transpapillary gallbladder drainage (TGBD) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided gallbladder drainage (EUS-GBD) provide effective internal drainage in patients with acute cholecystitis unfit for cholecystectomy, avoiding the drawbacks of external percutaneous gallbladder drainage (PGBD). The availability of dedicated lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS) for EUS-guided transluminal interventions contributed to the expansion of endoscopic therapies for acute cholecystitis, making endoscopic gallbladder drainage easier, faster, and hence more widely available.

Minimum 5-Year Clinical and Return-to-Sport Outcomes After Primary Arthroscopic Scapulothoracic Bursectomy and Partial Scapulectomy for Snapping Scapula Syndrome.

Background: Snapping scapula syndrome (SSS) is a rare condition that is oftentimes debilitating. For patients whose symptoms are resistant to nonoperative treatment, arthroscopic surgery may offer relief. Because of the rarity of SSS, reports of clinical outcomes after arthroscopic SSS surgery are primarily limited to small case series and short-term follow-up studies.

Indications, Techniques and Future Perspectives of Walled-off Necrosis Management.

Necrotizing pancreatitis is a complex clinical condition burdened with significant morbidity and mortality. In recent years, the huge progress of interventional endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has allowed a shift in the management of pancreatic necrotic collections from surgical/percutaneous approaches to mini-invasive endoscopic internal drainage and debridement procedures. The development of lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMSs), devices specifically dedicated to transmural EUS interventions, further prompted the diffusion of such techniques.
