Background And Objectives: The immature platelet fraction (IPF) count is a parameter that quantifies young and reticulated platelets in peripheral blood, which reflects platelet production in the bone marrow. It has been used as a predictive model for bone marrow recovery in patients with acute leukemia after high-intensity chemotherapy and/or stem cell transplantation. This study aimed to evaluate IPF as a predictor of hematologic recovery in these patients.

Reliable and continuous meteorological data are crucial for modeling the responses of energy systems and their components to weather and climate conditions, particularly in densely populated urban areas. However, existing long-term datasets often suffer from spatial and temporal gaps and inconsistencies, posing great challenges for detailed urban energy system modeling and cross-city comparison under realistic weather conditions. Here we introduce the Historical Comprehensive Hourly Urban Weather Database (CHUWD-H) v1.

Introduction: Though wrist-worn photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors play an important role in long-term and continuous heart rhythm monitoring, signals measured at the wrist are contaminated by more intense motion artifacts compared to other body locations. Machine learning (ML)-based algorithms can improve long-term pulse rate (PR) tracking but are associated with more stringent regulatory requirements when intended for clinical use. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of a digital health technology using wrist-worn PPG sensors and an ML-based algorithm to measure PR continuously.

Background: Variation in levels of pain intensity and incapability among patients with musculoskeletal conditions is associated with measures of mindset (unhelpful thoughts [such as hurt equals harm] and feelings of distress [overwhelm, rumination] regarding bodily sensations) and circumstances (social health as well as security in finances, roles, home, and support) as much or more so than pathophysiology severity. Loneliness is an important aspect of social health, it is associated with worse mental health, and it has been identified as worthy of attention and intervention by health authorities in several countries. It is estimated that up to one-third of adults older than 45 years of age experience loneliness.

Seasonal snow in the extratropical Andes is a primary water source for major rivers supplying water for drinking, agriculture, and hydroelectric power in Central Chile. Here, we used estimates from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) to analyze changes in snow cover extent over the period 2001-2022 in a total of 18 watersheds spanning approximately 1,100 km across the Chilean Andes (27-36°S). We found that the annual snow cover extent is receding in the watersheds analyzed at an average pace of approximately 19% per decade.
