Understanding non-response in psychotherapy: A meta-synthesis.

Introduction: There is considerable research focusing on the negative outcomes of psychotherapy, however, there remains an overlooked population: those who appear to show no response after treatment. This qualitative evidence synthesis aimed to review the available literature exploring client and therapist experiences of psychotherapy nonresponse.

Method: Seven databases were searched for studies using qualitative approaches to explore nonresponse.

A mixed methods evaluation of medical tattooing for people who have experienced a burn injury.

Introduction: There are no existing studies examining the psychological merits of using facial medical tattooing (MT) following burn injury. This study evaluated an MT service supported by The Katie Piper Foundation. It examined accessibility, satisfaction and whether there were improvements in quality of life (QoL).

AM-6: a microporous one-dimensional ferromagnet.

The vanadosilicate zeolite AM-6 is shown by a combination of spectroscopic techniques (UV-vis, Raman, XPS, XAS and EPR) to contain linear chains of alternating V=O and V-O bonds. The V(IV) ions in these chains are ferromagnetically coupled, and an excellent fit a to the susceptibility data with a one-dimensional Heisenberg model is obtained with J = 0.66(1) cm(-1).

Genetic effects on sperm design in the zebra finch.

Sperm design and function are important determinants of male reproductive success and are expected to be under strong selection. The way that spermatozoa phenotypes evolve is poorly understood, because there have been few studies of the quantitative genetics of sperm. Here we show, in the zebra finch Taeniopygia guttata, an extraordinary degree of inter-male variation in sperm design that is independent of sperm swimming velocity.

Development of a model based on body composition to predict drug kinetics-1 evaluation in healthy volunteers.

A kinetic model for widely used drugs, based on body composition analysis, was developed and evaluated in young and elderly healthy individuals. Body composition was studied by body impedance analysis (BIA). Antipyrine, amlodipine, digoxin and tobramycin kinetics, liver microsomal activity enzyme (lidocaine/MEGX test), and appropriate clinical and laboratory tests were carried out.
