Water transport mechanisms during pressure-driven transport through polyamide nanogaps.

Molecular-scale simulations of pressure-driven transport through polyamide nanogaps (5-100 Å) were performed to investigate fundamental transport mechanisms. Results show that transport in nanogaps  10 Å is always subdiffusive, but superdiffusive transport was observed in nanogaps  20 Å. Near typical operating pressures for applications (  = 100 atm), only the 100 Å nanogap exhibited superdiffusive behavior.

Loss of STING impairs lactogenic differentiation.

Heightened energetic and nutrient demand during lactogenic differentiation of the mammary gland elicits upregulation of various stress responses to support cellular homeostasis. Here, we identify the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) as an immune supporter of the functional development of mouse mammary epithelial cells (MECs). An in vitro model of MEC differentiation revealed that STING is activated in a cGAS-independent manner to produce both type I interferons and proinflammatory cytokines in response to the accumulation of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species.

Immune Cell Contribution to Mammary Gland Development.

Postpartum breast cancer (PPBC) is a unique subset of breast cancer, accounting for nearly half of the women diagnosed during their postpartum years. Mammary gland involution is widely regarded as being a key orchestrator in the initiation and progression of PPBC due to its unique wound-healing inflammatory signature. Here, we provide dialogue suggestive that lactation may also facilitate neoplastic development as a result of sterile inflammation.

Factors influencing the commissioning and implementation of health and social care interventions for people with dementia: commissioner and stakeholder perspectives.

Background: Despite several interventions demonstrating benefit to people living with dementia and their caregivers, few have been translated and implemented in routine clinical practice. There is limited evidence of the barriers and facilitators for commissioning and implementing health and social care interventions for people living with dementia. The aim of the current study was to explore the barriers and facilitators to commissioning and implementing health and social care interventions for people with dementia, using a dementia friendly exercise and physical activity-based intervention (PrAISED [Promoting Activity, Stability and Independence in Early Dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment]) as a case study.
