Sixty-three patients with the mitral prolapse (MP) syndrome and a variety of heart rhythm disorders were studied. Diagnostic signs of MP and arrhythmias associated with this conditions are discussed. The most common heart rhythm and conductivity disorders encountered were ventricular extrasystoles (in 27 patients) and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (in 13).

Due to its anticholinergic properties rhythmilene somewhat increased the sinus rhythm and improved atrioventricular conduction. These properties of the drug often caused urination retention, largely in males over 55 years.
