Premise: Although maintaining the appropriate mid-day timing of the diel thermogenic events of cones of the dioecious cycads Macrozamia lucida and M. macleayi is central to the survival of both plant and pollinator in this obligate pollination mutualism, the nature of the underlying mechanism remains obscure. We investigated whether it is under circadian control.

High-order replica bands in monolayer FeSe/SrTiO revealed by polarization-dependent photoemission spectroscopy.

The mechanism of the enhanced superconductivity in monolayer FeSe/SrTiO has been enthusiastically studied and debated over the past decade. One specific observation has been taken to be of central importance: the replica bands in the photoemission spectrum. Although suggestive of electron-phonon interaction in the material, the essence of these spectroscopic features remains highly controversial.

Unique chemistry associated with diversification in a tightly coupled cycad-thrips obligate pollination mutualism.

Cycad cone thermogenesis and its associated volatiles are intimately involved in mediating the behavior of their obligate specialist pollinators. In eastern Australia, thrips in the Cycadothrips chadwicki species complex are the sole pollinators of many Macrozamia cycads. Further, they feed and reproduce entirely in the pollen cones.

Cold Pressor Pain Response in Children With Cancer.

Objective: The goal of this study was to examine pain responses in pediatric patients with cancer.

Method: Children (ages 6 to 18) undergoing treatment for cancer (N=68) completed the cold pressor task.

Results: Average pain tolerance was 118.

Emotion regulation and positive affect in the context of salivary alpha-amylase response to pain in children with cancer.

Background: Children with cancer routinely undergo painful medical procedures invoking strong physiological stress responses. Resilience to this pain may be conferred through resources such as emotion regulation strategies and positive affect.

Procedure: This study measured dispositional positive affect in children with cancer (N = 73) and randomly assigned participants to one of three emotion regulation strategy conditions (distraction, reappraisal, or reassurance).
