Highly differentiated endometrial adenocarcinoma is described in which the cells of the APUD-system (apudocytes) producing melatonin, noradrenaline and chorionic gonadotropin are detected histochemically and immunohistochemically. The disturbance of lipid metabolism in the patient is attributed to the hyperproduction of noradrenaline and melatonin exerting a mobilizing effect on lipid metabolism.
