Background: Knee injuries are common among elite intercounty Gaelic games players (collectively GAA players).
Aims: The primary aim was to examine knee pain, function, and quality of life in retired elite male GAA players. Secondary objectives were to (i) report the incidence of previous knee surgery and total knee replacement, (ii) assess medication usage, and (iii) investigate any associations between a history of knee injury and/or knee surgery and knee pain, function, and quality of life among retired elite male GAA players.
Introduction: Treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is poorly understood in younger women as the majority of prolapse research is conducted in the older population. There is an urgent need to evaluate conservative POP treatments for management in younger women due to high surgical complications and reoperation rates.
Methods: Systematic review of the literature following PRISMA guidelines and registered in PROSPERO.
Aims: Insights into the role of the urethra in maintaining continence and in normal voiding have been provided with advances in imaging techniques. Also, functional urethral testing is used to understand which treatments are optimal for women with functional bladder outlet obstruction (BOO), but which testing is better for which treatment? This review aims to describe our current understanding of female urethral function and dysfunction and to provide future research directions for treating functional female urethral disorders.
Materials And Methods: This is a consensus report of the proceedings of a research proposal discussed at the annual International Consultation on Incontinence-Research Society (ICI-RS), 6th-8th June 2024 (Bristol, UK): "Do we need to re-focus on functional female urethral disorders in lower urinary tract dysfunction? ICI-RS 2024".
Objectives: This systematic review aims to identify, appraise and synthesise the findings of published qualitative research exploring the barriers and facilitators to self-management of chronic conditions reported by women.
Design: A systematic literature review and thematic synthesis of qualitative studies.
Data Sources: A search of MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase and PsycInfo was undertaken using the search terms 'Women', 'Woman' 'Female,' 'Chronic', 'Long-term', 'Disease', 'Illness', 'Condition' 'Health,' 'Self-management,' 'Qualitative,' 'Barrier' and 'Facilitator'.
Purpose: Interprofessional education and intraprofessional learning experiences are fundamental to becoming an efficient member of the healthcare team for dental and dental hygiene students. The purpose of this study is to determine the attitudes and perceptions of The Ohio State University's dental and dental hygiene students on intraprofessional education and collaboration.
Methods: Dental and dental hygiene students at The Ohio State College of Dentistry were surveyed in this cross-sectional study about their readiness for intraprofessional learning.
