Background: Massive proximal humeral bone loss (PHBL) poses a technical challenge during reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA). Surgical treatment strategies include allograft-prosthetic composite (APC) reconstructions, endoprostheses, and other reverse shoulder arthroplasty constructs, however, there is a paucity of literature summarizing the outcomes and complications unique to this complex patient population. This study aimed to systematically review the literature to evaluate (1) patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), (2) functional outcomes, and (3) complications according to surgical treatment strategy for patients with massive PHBL who undergo primary or revision shoulder arthroplasty.

Ectomycorrhizal fungi in the genus form hypogeous fruiting bodies called truffles. Many species are highly prized due to their edible and aromatic ascomata. Historically, there has been attention on cultivating and selling European truffle species, but there is growing interest in cultivating, wild-harvesting, and selling species of truffles endemic to North America.

Background: Obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are associated with alterations in testosterone concentrations. While evidence indicates that aerobic training can influence testosterone in healthy populations or females with hyperandrogenism, its impact in individuals with obesity or T2D remains unclear. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate whether aerobic training can influence circulating testosterone concentrations in individuals with obesity or T2D.

Ectomycorrhizal fungal communities associated with Crocanthemum and Lechea (Cistaceae) in subtropical Florida sandhill habitats.

Cistaceae are shrubs, subshrubs and herbs that often occur in stressful, fire-prone or disturbed environments and form ectomycorrhizal (ECM) associations with symbiotic fungi. Although some Cistaceae are long-lived shrubs that grow to significant size, others are herbaceous annuals or short-lived plants. Thus, Cistaceae are atypical ECM hosts that are fundamentally different in their biology from trees that are the more typically studied ECM hosts.

Intravesical Agents for Prevention of Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections.

Recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs) are common and can significantly impact a patient's quality of life. The mainstay of treatment is antibiotic-based, which contributes to the global problem of antibiotic resistance among urinary pathogens, so many alternative therapies have been explored. In this mini-review we evaluate evidence for intravesical agents that prevent rUTI, including antibiotic and nonantibiotic options.
