Exploring Sri Lankan Policies and Practices to Manage Health Information Disorder on Social Media: A Qualitative Approach.

Information disorder is problematic in health because it can limit effective treatment options and preventive measures. Interviews were conducted to understand the current policies and practices better. The qualitative analysis resulted in three broad thematic areas, with 115 codes and 12 code groups.

Aspergillus meningitis following spinal anaesthesia for caesarean section in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

We report six cases of Aspergillus meningitis after spinal anaesthesia for caesarean section administered in June and July 2005. Three patients died before a fungal infection was confirmed at the first post-mortem examination in August. Thereafter anti-fungal therapy was successful in saving the lives of the other three patients.

Establishing a cancer pain clinic in a developing country: effect of a collaborative link project with a UK cancer pain center.

This paper describes a project for the establishment of a cancer pain clinic in a developing country. The project was conducted according to guidelines from the World Health Organization and utilized a link with an existing cancer pain clinic in the UK. The principal methods used for establishing the new pain clinic included: an assessment of barriers to effective cancer pain control, teaching programs for nurses and trainee doctors, educational links with a UK cancer pain clinic, and analgesic guidelines and introduction of a pain assessment tool.

Delayed recovery following atracurium: a case report.

A 41-year-old woman received a total of 19 mg (0.6 mg kg-1) of atracurium over a 2-h period of general anaesthesia for abdominal surgery. Spontaneous respiration could not be achieved with neostigmine reversal.
