In extreme environments people will have different needs for medicine(s), making it crucial to understand how such environments affect drug efficacy. Ibuprofen, commonly used in tablet formulation on Earth, could fail in space despite standard pharmaceutical packaging. We introduce the concept of 'space medicines', where solid-dosage forms protect the pharmaceutical from accelerated degradation in spaceflight.

Leveraging hydrogen bonding for molecular recognition in water encounters significant challenges in synthetic receptors on account of the hydration of their functional groups. Herein, we introduce a water-soluble hydrogen bonding cage, synthesized a dynamic approach, exhibiting remarkable affinities and selectivities for strongly hydrated anions, including sulfate and oxalate, in water.

Background: This study presents a patient diagnosed with tricuspid valvular stenosis due to right ventricular lymphoma, who was treated successfully.
Case Presentation: A 66-year-old man with a history of worsening shortness of breath during activity for the last three weeks sought medical attention. The patient later experienced swelling in the extremities, fluid build-up around the lungs and abdominal fluid accumulation, with no reported chest pain, fever, or weight loss.
Chronic airway inflammatory diseases like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and their associated exacerbations cause significant socioeconomic burden. There are still major obstacles to effective therapy for controlling severe asthma and COPD progression. Advances in understanding the pathogenesis of the two diseases at the cellular and molecular levels are essential for the development of novel therapies.

Targeting the p38-MK2 signaling axis represents a direct therapeutic intervention of inflammatory diseases. We described here a novel role of andrographolide (AG), a small-molecule ent-labdane natural compound, as an inhibitor of p38-MK2 axis via MK2 degradation.

Target-specific strategies to inactivate inflammation mediators have largely failed to improve the prognosis of septic patients in clinical trials. By utilizing their high density of positive charges, de novo designed peptide nanonets are shown to selectively entrap the negatively charged LPS and pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6).

Cumulative evidence has implicated renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in the pathogenesis of COPD. Alveolar macrophages (AMs) are the first line immune defense in the respiratory system and play a critical role in the lung homeostasis.

Art therapy has been widely offered to reduce symptoms of psychological disturbance. Pooled evidence about its effectiveness in epidemic contexts, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, has not been yet established. This study reviewed the effectiveness, feasibility, and acceptability of art therapy on children and adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic and past epidemics.

The ISS has helped scientists make discoveries that go beyond the basic understanding of Earth. Over 300 medical experiments have been performed to date, with the goal of extending the knowledge gained for the benefit of humanity.

There is currently no approved effective antiviral treatment for CHIKV infection. In this study, we report a new class of small-molecule CHIKV inhibitors, the oxindole-labdanes, that potently block the replication of CHIKV with good selectivity.

They have a typical heterocyclic structure in common, but differ in their potential toxicity, depending on the presence or absence of a double bond between C1 and C2. Fortunately, most plants contain saturated PAs without this double bond and are therefore not toxic for consumption by humans or animals.

In 2018, the Vietnam Ministry of Health (MOH) conducted a full-scale exercise (FSX) in response to cases of severe viral pneumonia with subsequent laboratory confirmation for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) to evaluate the country's early warning and response capabilities for high-risk events.
Methods: An exercise planning team designed a complex fictitious scenario beginning with one case of severe viral pneumonia presenting at the hospital level and developed all the materials required for the exercise.
This study was conducted to investigate the genetic diversity of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and its coinfecting pathogens in pigs with respiratory disease in Vietnam. Samples from 127 clinical cases were obtained from different southern provinces of Vietnam from January 2018 to January 2020 for PCR and sequence analysis. The infection rate of PCV2 was 78.

Current literature has documented a sizeable list of pharmacological targets for andrographolide, suggesting its multi-targeting nature. Many of these targets are central to the pathophysiology of highly prevalent diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, autoimmunity, and even cancer.

Herein, we present our effort directed towards understanding the contribution of chemical reactivity to biological potency to rationally design new covalent inhibitors based on the ent-ladane andrographolide scaffold for anti-inflammatory action. Specifically, a series of andrographolide derivatives comprising various Michael acceptors was developed and their thiol reactivity was assayed under various chemical and biological conditions.

Methods: A strategic EBS framework was developed based on the EBS implementation pilot project's goals and objectives.
Improper processing activities of e-waste are potential sources of polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and their derivatives, however, information about the environmental occurrence and adverse impacts of these toxic substances is still limited for informal e-waste recycling areas in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. In this study, unsubstituted and methylated PAHs were determined in surface soil and river sediment samples collected from a rural village with informal e-waste recycling activities in northern Vietnam. Total levels of PAHs and MePAHs decreased in the order: workshop soil (median 2900; range 870-42,000 ng g) > open burning soil (2400; 840-4200 ng g) > paddy field soil (1200; range 530-6700 ng g) > river sediment samples (750; 370-2500 ng g).
