Introduction: The Neurosurgery Education and Development (NED) Foundation (NEDF) started the development of local neurosurgical practice in Zanzibar (Tanzania) in 2008. More than a decade later, multiple actions with humanitarian purposes have significantly improved neurosurgical practice and education for physicians and nurses.

Research Question: To what extent could comprehensive interventions (beyond treating patients) be effective in developing global neurosurgery from the outset in low and middle-income countries?

Material And Method: A retrospective review of a 14- year period (2008-2022) of NEDF activities highlighting landmarks, projects, and evolving collaborations in Zanzibar was carried out.

This study investigated the differences in health outcomes associated with ferulic acid (FA) supplementation in animals before the induction of diabetes with streptozotocin (STZ) treatment and post-STZ treatment. 18 male Wistar rats were equally distributed into three groups: groups 1 and 2 received FA (50 mg/kg body weight) supplementation one week before STZ treatment (60 mg/kg body weight, intraperitoneal) and one week after STZ treatment, respectively; group 3 received STZ without FA supplementation. FA supplementation was continued for 12 weeks after STZ treatment.

Multipartite viruses package their genomic segments independently and mainly infect plants; few of them target animals. is a family of multipartite single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) plant viruses that individually encapsidate ssDNAs of ~1 kb and transmit them through aphids without replication in aphid vectors, thereby causing important diseases in host plants, mainly leguminous crops. All of these components constitute an open reading frame to perform a specific role in nanovirus infection.

Pakistan is among the few countries generating and receiving enormous e-waste, which posits a threat to its future generations. A systematic literature review also suggests exploring e-waste awareness in Asia to understand awareness and behavior. Therefore, the present study explored university students' awareness of e-waste and the factors hindering the disposal of laptops, personal computers, and cellphones and suggested a conceptual framework.

Dihydropyrazole (1-22) derivatives were synthesized from already synthesized chalcones. The structures of all of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by elemental analysis and various spectroscopic techniques. Furthermore, the synthesized compounds were screened against α amylase as well as investigated for antioxidant activities.

An ischemic stroke typically accompanies numerous disorders ranging from somatosensory dysfunction to cognitive impairments, inflicting patients with various neurologic symptoms. Among pathologic outcomes, post-stroke olfactory dysfunctions are frequently observed. Despite the well-known prevalence, therapy options for such compromised olfaction are limited, likely due to the complexity of olfactory bulb architecture, which encompasses both the peripheral and central nervous systems.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers identified 7745 patients who underwent CRT followed by surgery and categorized their stage changes into pathologic complete response (pCR), downstaged, same-staged, or upstaged.
  • * Results showed that patients who achieved pCR had the longest median overall survival at 60.3 months, while those who were upstaged had the shortest at 23.4 months, indicating a strong correlation between stage changes and survival outcomes.

Forecasting is an attractive topic in every field of study because no one knows the exact nature of the underlying phenomena, but it can be guessed using mathematical functions. As the world progresses towards technology and betterment, algorithms are updated to understand the nature of ongoing phenomena. Machine learning (ML) algorithms are an updated phenomenon used in every task aspect.

Indiscriminate uses of insecticide greatly damage the environment as well as non-target organisms. Thus, multiple levels of bioassays can help better management of our environment. Flubendiamide is a phthalic acid diamide insecticide that ceases the function of insect muscle leading to paralysis and death.

Fibroids of the uterus are a common benign tumor affecting women of childbearing age. Uterine fibroids (UF) can be effectively treated with earlier identification and diagnosis. Its automated diagnosis from medical images is an area where deep learning (DL)-based algorithms have demonstrated promising results.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions have become a critical aspect of the economic and sustainable development indicators of every country. In Pakistan, where there is a substantial increase in the population, industrialization, and demand for electricity production from different resources, the fear of an increase in CO2 emissions cannot be ignored. This study explores the link that betwixt CO2 emissions with different significant economic indicators in Pakistan from 1960 to 2018 using the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) modelling technique.

In the current study, chitosan, poly (N-vinyl-2-pyrolidone) and polyamidoamine based hydrogels were prepared by Solution Casting Method using different quantity of graphene oxide (GO) for controlled cephradine (CPD) release. The hydrogels were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscopy. FTIR results endorsed the presence of particular functionalities and developed interfaces in hydrogels.

Article Synopsis
  • A study comparing endovascular therapy (EVT) and medical management (MM) for patients with isolated posterior cerebral artery occlusion found no significant difference in disability outcomes at 90 days.
  • EVT showed a greater likelihood of achieving a substantial improvement on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and better overall recovery, despite higher risks of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (SICH) and mortality.
  • The findings suggest that while EVT may lead to better recovery, it comes with increased risks, indicating the need for careful patient selection in treatment decisions.

In current study the pharmaceutically active herbs was used against coccidiosis, caused by a protozoan: , lead to $ 3 billion loss annually. The aqueous and methanolic extracts of whole plants were applied to assess sporulation inhibition (spi) assay and calculated the inhibitory concentration (IC). For study 9 groups of 14 day old broiler chicks were infected with and three groups were treated different concentrations of methanolic extracts of and post infection.

Pain is common in the acute phase of Guillain-Barré Syndrome and can be severe and refractory. Pain in GBS may not always respond to contemporary pain therapy. An epidural can potentially be considered for the treatment of refractory pain after a careful patient-centered discussion with the patient about risks.

Reliably identifying short-lived chemical reaction intermediates is crucial to elucidate reaction mechanisms but becomes particularly challenging when multiple transient species occur simultaneously. Here, we report a femtosecond x-ray emission spectroscopy and scattering study of the aqueous ferricyanide photochemistry, utilizing the combined Fe Kβ main and valence-to-core emission lines. Following UV-excitation, we observe a ligand-to-metal charge transfer excited state that decays within 0.

Article Synopsis
  • Inflammation and hypoxia influence the molecular pathways involved in cardiovascular and respiratory issues linked to seizures, and Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid (TUDCA) can help manage oxidative stress and inflammation by reducing endoplasmic reticulum stress.
  • A study was conducted on Wistar Albino male rats to assess the effects of TUDCA in a seizure model induced by pentylenetetrazole, where various protein markers such as NF-κB p65 and TNF-α were evaluated in brain, heart, and lung tissues.
  • Results showed that TUDCA treatment reduced the increased expression of inflammatory proteins and improved histopathological conditions caused by seizures, suggesting its protective role against tissue damage in epileptic conditions.
